SLAVERY

I am growing into a hater of slavery. The worst form of slavery … Temptations that is. how much i am loathing this idea at this point in life is manifest in my ways now a days as i feel i am not only turning into a misanthrope alone but a nihilist too (as per psychiatric definitions and not philosophical). Days in and days out i see physiological, intellectual, emotional, moral, religious, materialistic and spiritual slavery.

Physicality is tempted to desire and sensuality to indulge..

Intellect is tempted to create… ideas, words and then confusions followed by falsities..

Pride is tempted by conceitedness and Arrogance by disdain..

Impulse is tempted to folly and Wisdom is tempted to procrastinate..

Religiosity is tempted by self-righteousness and Morality by holiness..

Beauty is tempted to exhibit and Talent to express..

Inadequacy is tempted to depend and Loneliness is tempted to string along..

Passion is tempted to incinerate and Courage to brawl..

Patience is tempted to suffer and Faith to trust..

Skepticism is tempted to question and Cynicism to doubt..

Hatred is tempted to divide and Jealousy is tempted to malign..

Love is tempted to caste a beloved and Devotion to cast God..

Spirituality is tempted to seek the ultimate and Indifference is tempted to become its own God..

Hence the preordained paths for a journey called life in a void called destiny… I for one do not want to give in to the decreed temptations and refuse to be a slave to my own. I for once want to be my own creator and taste what was once called Free Will..

  1. My favorite line is the “Spirituality/indifference” one. Attaining Free Will would be the attainment of emancipation, isn’t it?

  2. Bikram says:

dont we all want that … FREE WILLL… all the best and i am sure you will sometime …

  3. The Emu says:

A fantastic writing my friend , you are absolutely right , if we do not have free will but get engrossed in the inane aspects of humanity then we are doomed to follow as sheep to the slaughter , I

  4. The Emu says:

I think the majority of mans problems in his pursuit of Nirvana are caused by religions
This statement of yours sums it all up
Religiosity is tempted by self-righteousness and Morality by holiness.
    Emu

    Interesting baat hai kafi.

  6. mohsingilani says:

    So true …

    Humans find refuge in slavery.

  7. Ali Adnan says:

sab upar se guzar gaya …. kakh palay nahi para :(

  8. Do ‘nihilism’ and ‘self-annihilation’ represent the two extremes of a spectrum? And listen, doesn’t nihilism have its foundation in temptation? In that case, isn’t self-annihilation the only way to rid oneself of temptation?

    • mahlaqa says:

self denial yes.. as for nihilism i said as per psychological state of mind and not the philosophical theory… i dont blv in any philosophical theories when it comes to experiencing with self and life. as much as i have dribbled in the field of ethereal nature of existence i dont know if any rule applies there which is mandatory for all… so no theory works for me. yes self denial leads to self annihilation which is the pinnacle of human existence ironically enough… but having said that very few chosen ones can rid them of their selves as much as to empty them completely to enjoy true freedom, salvation and bliss..

      • So where does that leave us, Mahlaqa? Stranded? :|

      • mahlaqa says:

:) doesnt this post sound like coming from a stranded soul BTFW :) u wana talk?? sometimes we do feel stranded despite being anchored … but lack of perseverance and a mighty ego comes in the way. dont forget even bereavement, despair and disillusionment are also states of an ego trying to resist its demise..

      • Where there is ego, there can never be peace. I think we have already established that. And also that “feeling stranded despite being anchored” is worse than just being stranded. Because the former implies that one is stuck forever, whilst the latter still breeds hope. What do you think, O stranded one? :)

      • mahlaqa says:

hey who are you??? u hit the nail right on spot :(

    • Be scared, be very scared Mahlaqa :p

  9. i have read this piece 3-4 times. And i feel that i still am not able to get to the crux of the matter. Meri koshish…jaari hai.

    • mahlaqa says:

it is not that difficult Hari ji.. the idea is that however we live in this world is how we perceive and react.. which is based on how we are manufactured. since we all can be summed up by the traits we possess i have mentioned but a few to suggest how and where the strings are attached. one trait leads to a necessary outcome which is the highest temptation for that very trait of ours that we are innately endowed with. if we feel inadequate the natural temptation wd be to depend on someone else..if we think we are beautiful we are tempted to exhibit that… hence our temptation leads us to be what we become eventually..not by choice but by our inherent nature. hence i call it slavery n not free will. :)

  10. Temptation are disguised motivation. Own it.

    (indeed tempting write up)

  11. Humayun says:

I was feeling while reading your post that life is so absurd and it’s great that one day we all get a chance to die. We fall into temptations because we wish to attach meaning to our otherwise meaningless lives.
Free will, I don’t think I will be ever able to emancipate myself from my own slavery but this post gives me reasons to resist. So, I will try :)
